E-Commerce Website Design in Toronto
How I built an e-commerce website for an electric bike brand — with product collections, comparison-friendly layouts, and a checkout that converts.
The Challenge
TankX needed more than an online brochure — they needed a website that works as a sales tool. Like most businesses in the retail & e-commerce space, their customers research online first and judge credibility in seconds.
What the business needed
- Product pages that sell high-ticket items
- Collections for cargo, foldable, and hybrid models
- A smooth mobile shopping experience
- SEO for e-bike and e-scooter searches
Short answer
TankX is a retail & e-commerce business in Toronto, ON. Lead Web Studio designed and hand-coded the site — mobile-first, structured for local search, no template and no page builder. A build of this scope is $899–$2,999 one-time and goes live in 5–7 days once content is ready. The live site is at tankx.ca.
Product Collections Built to Convert
Structured collections let shoppers compare models, specs, and prices at a glance. Rich product pages with clear CTAs move visitors from research to purchase.

Where online stores actually lose the sale
Product pages carry the search weight, so each one needs its own real description, its own images and proper product structured data. Without that, a store is invisible in exactly the searches with the highest buying intent.
And every extra kilobyte is paid for twice — once in load time and once in abandoned carts. Custom code rather than a stack of plugins keeps the store fast on a phone on mobile data, which is where most of the browsing happens.
Almost never at the design. Stores lose sales at the moments of friction — a product page that does not answer an obvious question, shipping cost revealed at the last step, a checkout that asks for an account. TankX's build works backwards from those points rather than forwards from a homepage mockup.
Questions about a build like this
How long did the store take to build?+
The core build runs about 5 to 7 days; product data and photography are what set the real timeline. A catalogue that already exists in a clean spreadsheet moves quickly.
What does an online store cost?+
Storefronts start at $1,499 and reach $2,999 where payments, inventory or custom checkout logic are involved. Fixed price in writing before work starts.
Will products show up properly in Google?+
Each product page gets its own description, images and product structured data, which is what makes them eligible to appear in shopping and rich results.
Can I manage products myself?+
Yes — the store is set up so you add, edit and retire products without needing me, and I stay available for anything structural.
