Tree Service Website Design in Ontario
A tree-service website has a problem no other trade site has: the customer does not know whether they are allowed to buy what you sell. Ontario has no single tree law for private property — each municipality writes its own by-law and sets its own trunk-diameter threshold, and the three below differ by a factor of two. So the first job of the site is not to show a bucket truck. It is to tell someone standing in their back yard, in the town they are standing in, whether that tree needs a permit — and then to collect the photograph and the measurement that let you price it. There is no tree service company in my portfolio yet, and I would rather write that than imply otherwise.

Is the Tree Permit Threshold the Same Across Ontario?
No. Private tree protection is municipal, so the number that decides whether your customer needs a permit changes when they cross a city line. Oakville and Mississauga both start at 15 centimetres. Toronto starts at 30. A page written for one of those is actively wrong for a visitor in another, which is the argument for a page per municipality rather than one page for "the GTA".

Calgary Roofing & Exteriors is live at calgaryroofingexterior.com. I designed and hand-coded it: an exterior trade where the weather decides when the phone rings, the crew works at height, and the customer chooses from photographs and a quote form rather than a showroom.
Tree work runs on the same three facts, which is why that build is the honest reference for this niche rather than an invented case study. The nearest local one is Every Season in Oakville, a seasonal property-services company covering lawn care, gutters and snow. I did not design or build that site — an earlier team did, and I ship ongoing development on it.

What makes a tree service website different from any other trade site?+
The customer does not know whether they are legally allowed to buy what you sell. Every Ontario municipality writes its own private tree by-law with its own trunk-diameter threshold, so the first thing the website has to settle is whether a permit is needed at that address. A trade site that skips it sends someone who had already decided the tree was coming down off to find the answer somewhere else.
Is the tree permit threshold the same across Ontario?+
No, and it is the most common mistake on tree-service websites. Oakville requires a permit before removing any tree with a trunk larger than 15 centimetres in diameter at breast height. Mississauga states that on private property you are not allowed to injure or remove any tree 15 cm or greater in diameter without a permit. Toronto sets the line at 30 centimetres measured at 1.4 metres above ground level. One page written for the wrong municipality is wrong for every visitor in it.
What should a tree service quote form ask for?+
A photograph of the whole tree, a photograph of the base, and the trunk circumference measured at chest height. Those three answers give you the species, the access, the risk and whether the job sits inside the municipal by-law. A form that asks people to "describe your project" produces a paragraph nobody can price and a site visit that may never have been needed.
Should a tree company publish prices on its website?+
Publish what can be honestly fixed and explain what cannot. Stump grinding, small removals and hourly rates carry real numbers. Full removals genuinely depend on height, lean, access and drop zone, so the useful thing is a worked range with the four factors that move it. A blank pricing page forces a phone call before anyone knows whether they can afford you.
